This event is now one of the most popular gatherings of historic ex-working boats in Britain, having started in 2009

(although it was not held in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid).  There will be around 30 narrow boats, dating from the 1900s

through to 1962.  Some are restored to their original carrying condition, but others are converted with cabins for living

or holidaying on. The boats will stretch from the main road bridge to the bottom of the flight of locks.

At the canal wharf you will see Saturn, a 1906 Shropshire Union Canal fly boat, which often worked from Audlem, carrying

cheeses and other goods loaded from the canal warehouse (now the Shroppie Fly pub).  Fly boats were timetabled

to work round the clock, with horses regularly changed along the route, and crews less frequently!

Organised until 2023 by Peter and Christine Silvester of Audlem Mill, the event will be put on from 2024 by the Historic Narrow Boat Club, and is open only to boats brought by HNBC members.  Contact Nick Grundy at nickdgrundy@gmail.com

Spectators are welcome to view the boats (access to the towpath is free, and free parking is available - follow the signs).
